Hmmmmm.

I just finished watching the Olympic Opening Ceremony re-run and I couldn't help but feel like a cynic.
I mean, I am a sucker for those events. I am easily awed by people, and the display of technology those people had up their sleeves...my, oh my!

But stupid politics have to get in the way of things. And now, I feel terrible. I don't even feel like myself today. I feel hollow, unworthy,
SCARED.
Wars should not break out anymore. We are past that, I believe. Let others be free- do not impose yourself on people who are dwarfed by powers greater than them.

Harmony, remember? That's what today was supposed to be all about! Harmony, peace, understanding. Why is that so hard to grasp?
I am only twenty, and I can fully understand. Why, then, can't Heads of State do so?
Avarice and lust for power are not going to do our world any good at all!

I want to shout it: Please reconsider! Please, let us live in peace. Please. I want to lead a long, happy life. I want to make something of myself, I want to see my brothers achieve and be happy, I want to see my parents grow old and satisfied. I want to live! Live free of any worries that a war might break out, that lives will be lost for unjust causes. I want injustices to be properly condemned. I want people to learn. I want our world to truly, for once, advance as a whole.

Ok, listen up, you bastards over in the Franco-Swiss border building that anti-matter thing:
You fuck up, we die.
So, think twice and double-check everything, k?

I have a hunch that if we die, well, I'm going to be one sad soul and I shall search for you after I have tea with some ancestors of mine and kick you all really hard.
If this little threat is not enough, here's a list of what you'd be destroying:
-The lives of roughly 6 billion people.
-The legacies of our fathers (ie; Pyramids, Ankor Wat, Aya Sofya, etc).
-Dreams, and ambitions.

Perhaps, as men of science, you should back (the fuck!) up and put everything into perspective. There are many things I'd like to do before I die, or 2012 (which, I have opted to not believe will be the end). Maybe get married, you know, have a couple of kids. I'd like to travel, too!

Let's not ruin it.

I need a job for at least the next 11 months. Sigh.
I have planned (FOR REALS) for my future trips. 2009 should be pretty interesting.
I mean, already in February I have a hot date with Boston to go visit some friends from Venezuela. One lives in front of Fenway Park and attends the Boston Conservatory (I saw her apartment picture, there is an old chimney. I am excited). Another one is flying in from Caracas along with the Venezuela delegation for 09's Model UN.
Oooooh the anticipation.
After spending a weekend in Boston, I shall then proceed to NYC with the mock UN delegation for some First World fun. Yay!

For spring break (hopefully I'll have money for a spring break trip AND a summer trip) I shall...err...go somewhere. Perhaps hit up Canada. I mean, I'll have the coats for it. Haha.
As soon as I'm out for summer, God willing, I will be in Europe once more.

It sucks to have wanderlust, you're always putting your better days in the future. I try to enjoy the present, by the present is based on me fantasizing about the future and the places I will go.
Oh well, like I heard Joel Osteen say (yes, I saw one of his broadcasts): If God planted that dream whithin you, then that means you can achieve it. My dream is to wander aimlessly, and thus I shall pursue the lifestyle. The point is to keep moving, to make a journey out of a journey, if it makes sense.

Oh, such promises.
Self, I trust you with fulfilling them :)

So it's almost 3:30 am here in Altamonte Springs.
What a day I've had, though! I should be dead asleep but I only feel a tad woozy.
We got up at around 11am and we went to Islands of Adventure AGAIN (we went there yesterday, too!) and oh boy..what a joy.
To make a long story short, we (Elias and I) rode The Hulk 3 times, Dueling Dragons 5 times, Dr. Doom's Fear Falls twice and then we did some Spider Man and Ripsaw Falls.
And to top it all off, and make things even grander, I happened to bump into an old high school friend on the first day. He was checking to see I was well and snug on my fire dragon seat. Then I saw him again today, on the Ice dragon. We exchanged numbers, and we met after his shift ended (circa 3pm). He brought a WAD of THIRTY express passes AND gave us his discount for food.
Hooray for nice people.
It was awesome.

The days were also hot as hell. Blagh. But whatevvsss!

Tonight we had a choripanada (get some bratwurst and stick it in a loaf of bread and voila!) with Manuel, his brother and their friends Paula...and her sister whose name I cannot remember. It was really nice, and both girls were very cool. I love making new friends :p

So, now we're back at the apt. and debating whether we should go to Disney or St. Augustine. We shall see in the morrow.

I'm thinking about stay here a few more days, but we'll see about that. I'm suposed to leave Sunday with my parentals who are in Cocoa Beach for a wedding right now.

So, hope everyone's having a good time back home!

So, here I am, about to turn twenty and desperately clinging to my last minutes as a teenager.
It's such an odd feeling. I mean, I know nothing but being irresponsible and [insert number here]teen.
So now, I have to be like, "I'm 20!"
That's the passing grade in Venezuela :P

But whatever, come what may, I will be ready, even though it's just another year and the earth will not stop rotating for me, and if it does...well, don't blame me.
I'd be pretty scared if it did stop moving.

Nineteen, and eighteen were good to me. Really good, actually. So, perhaps twenty will be just as great, or even better.

Oh, my.
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

* Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
* Why the early bird gets the worm;
* Life isn't always fair;
* and Maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6 -year- old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they thems elves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Tylenol, sun lotion or a band-aid to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 3 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

I am officially a jet-setter: I have my own flight horror story.
Our flight got delayed 3 hours due to some fixing that had to be done. We were all nervous as it was, but oh my God, I have never experienced such an awful takeoff. I was right next to the wing, and the sound it made was infernal, and the cabin shook.
We had such awful turbulence that they stopped serving the food and the flight attendants were ordered to sit down. There were also sudden drops that even people started letting out screams. It was so awful!
Children, I cried! And shook and hyperventilated. It was horrible. I don't wish this to ANYONE- not even Chavez!
It's such a gripping fear. All I kept on thinking (and later caught myself saying aloud) was "This is NOT how I'm going to go! God, don't let me go! Take me home safe". Lather, rinse, repeat.
I have never been so happy to get to MIA. Phew. I hugged my parents so hard, and Fabian too!
I still have not recovered my apetite, and I believe I have some nightmares on the way. But I am very thankful that I made it home alright.

But, I enjoyed myself in Madrid. It is a very friendly city and boy, do those Spaniards know how to live. They go in to work at 9am, they eat lunch and have their 3-hour siesta until 5pm and get out at 9pm. Then, they go out for drinks, regardless of the day of the week and go to bet at around 12 or 1. Lovely, lovely!

I can't wait to go back, specially since I feel very lethargic and sad. I really, REALLY miss Ana and the apartment, and my friends on bus 621 and the metro.

Hola!
So, here I am in marvelous Madrid :)
I feel very at home. Ana has been such a gracious and kind hostess that I do not feel like leaving. She's spoiling me to the point of embarrassment (on my part). She's bought me all these amazing cookies and chocolate/milk breads (I'll explain later). We went to Zara yesterday and she bought me a pair of shoes! AND we went to El Corte Ingles (Macy's x 10000) and bought me a Tous bag!! AHHHH!!! Hehe. I think I love her :p

Last night we went club hopping, Madrid style. It was...really interesting. Haha.
So many beautiful men. Everyone actually MAKES an effort to look good here, which is sorta shitty cos that means NO SNEAKERS. The popo WILL stop you in certain areas- no lie!

Traffic is pretty crazy. I mean, not the drivers, the Guardia Civil is actually pretty strict and they have random cameras in the street that will photo any car that is speeding over the limit and they'll send you a fine to your house. The traffic signs, however, are crazy. Intense crazy. I'll bring the pictures.
I couldn't even spot a streetlight on my first day, cos they are freaking small and to the side...which brings me to this: everything is sideways!! Toilets are off to one side at an odd angle in rooms, the faucet in sinks are to the left. Haha. It's crazy! But I am enjoying myself.

As for the language, err...there is a barrier. An awful one. I was standing outside a hotel today (I spent the night with the twins at their hotel in La Castellana) and I saw a girl walking a Pug! So I was like, "I have one like that!" and she said..something. I don't know WHAT the hell it was. Probably the name of the breed here, but it sounded like a long, scruffy slur, with her lisps and s's. I smiled and nodded hoping I didn't look TOO stupid.
Hell, even the No Parking signs took me a while to figure out (WTF is "Vado"?).

Anyways, I'll tell more stories later!
Cheers!

the Saturday after I come back from Spain (if I'm not scheduled to work, that is) I shall volunteer at Habitat for Humanity.
I really do believe in the cause. Heck, even my debit card has their logo and is supposed to receive a donation every time I use it.

In other news, on Saturday Harry, Andrea, Adriana, Elias and myself went to Allure (or whatever it's called- it had like 80 different names) and got in VIP. It was quite the experience. We did the whole waiting at the door, and pushing through people thing. It was interesting, for lack of better word (I want to say fun, but I would sound like SUCH a noob).
Jonathan and many familiar faces were there with us, too. We got in because we were on Armando's list, even though the bouncer never really checked for MY name but did check for Andrea's...and he marked her down as Beatriz Lopez.
Go South Florida youth!
I was the first to get in, though, because they would only let so many people in at a time. I told the bouncers the three behind me were with me, but...it's not like they cared. So, they let me go through and in I went into the smoke and music. A few minutes later I was joined by the posse and we danced, rescued Andrea from dying in a fight (these two huge guys started fighting and one of them actually landed on Andrea's ankle. She was talking to me, and all I saw was this huge mass almost fly towards her. I had no time to react and get her out of the way).
We went to the Techno room and stuff. It was alright. There was a drugged chick, and it was a really sad show to watch.
Some kid tried to get my cousin to buy him a drink (thinking he was 21, when he's really 19).

Next time I go to a nightclub I must bring a non-relative, male dancing partner. I don't grind or do any weird stuff, but it'd be cool to have someone to really dance with.

Oh, and need I mention I was eyeing Armando from the list? My, oh my, he was so cute and polite!
I hope I get to see him soon, but I heard he's leaving to Korea for some martial arts competition.
How hardcore.
Perhaps we'll bump into each other at MIA?

Which brings me to...ESPAÑAAA!!!
In 10 minutes it'll be 2 days until my trip! (it's 11:50pm, as I type this). AHHH!! How crazy!
I already packed everything, but need to find my coat, which I shall be borrowing from my aunt. I really want to get the one she lent me for my cousin's rehearsal dinner in Chicago. It's all nice, and black, and flattering!
The only thing I am nervous about is the flight, but once that baby is up in the air, my worries will melt away and I shall do something unproductive with my 8 hours of travel.
I am thinking about renting Bourne Ultimatum for my iPod.
Or I will watch some Colbert Report (the episode with Jon Stewart and Conan O'Brian, which I've been saving for the ride!)...and some Pride and Prejudice that Elias stuffed into my iPod. YAYYY!!

I can't wait, yo!

I just read Alex's latest post, and had such a laugh.
Seriously, people are crazy. Sometimes I wonder if it's only the US that has these crazy people. I mean, I am sure they are all across the globe (like, oh, Kings, Queens, little Hitlers, et al) but here they can speak out and stuff.
"Freedom of speech for all....even douchebags!"

Anyways, Spain is around the corner!
Well, not technically, cos then I'd cross the street and...gone a little farther to France, and then gone down the yard and be in England.
Eleven days, baby!
I am about to order my new digital camera (Canon SD1000) and..yeah. I was going to charge it to MY credit card, but my dad is always a step ahead of me and is going to pay it with his (apparently he has some ultra special account at e-cost, where he gets free shipping, blabalbal). But it is so freaking expensive! I mean, all I wanted was the camera ($159) but he added in the 2-year warranty, which is like $30. Harrumph. And THEN he added in a SD 4G memory card for an extra $30. So now my total is like $220. Damn. I did not budget for this, and he's not letting me use MY CC number. AHHH! I am so broke now.

Hope everyone's doing well :D

Hooray!
No, really- I am happy!
They are actually in Dallas right now (I know, Florida was on the way, but...mreh). Watching Cash Cab without my dad is lame. And being home early from school without my ma is boring. So..yayy!
ANNND I hope they bring me goodies. Teehee. I really hope I get the pens I asked for (yes, pens).

Anyways, today I chilled with George :D and...yeah. I failed YET another ethics test. I hate that stupid class. I dunno if I'll be going to the gym or going home and eating some chocolate.
I think I want to go to the gym. See who is single. Haha.
I am about to call my mother in France and throw a bitch fit over the phone.
See, I've been getting rides from people but it's all so rushed all the time. It's getting really annoying- it's BEEN really annoying. Ugh.
So, this morning, my ride forgot about me. I called her three times, but she would not answer. So, now I'm waiting for my neighbor to get home from the gym so I can go with him to my Macro class, because I've already missed more than half of Ethics.
I not a happy camper this morning. I had better get to Macro on time, cos I have a paper to turn in, and the guy doesn't accept them late.

It would have been easier if they let us drive. I mean, Juan and I took a joyride saturday night to take Trina home, but aside from that, the car is only for health emergencies and what not.
I think this is incredibly ludicrous! I am going to be 20! WTF. AND my parents have the balls to say that I am lazy and don't know how to drive...when in reality I do drive and I am not lazy. And if my driving were so horrible, my mom would take naps or talk on the phone as I drive since I am suposed to still be getting 'pointers' from her.

So, fuck it. I think I'm going to walk out and just take the mini-van and hope I don't get pulled over.

Gah. I don't like this time of day (from 6pm to 9pm). It's so boring.

Anyways, a few interesting events have taken place since Friday.
Friday morning my mom and us little ones found out that she was going away on a 'business trip' to PARIS with my dad. On Monday. Hah.
So, my brothahs and I have been home alone-ish since monday, and until wednesday next week. I thought about throwing a party, but I am too lazy to clean up after people. I am under strict conditions to not leave the house over the weekend, but Fabian is going to a party Saturday and I am sure Juan won't be staying behind, SO, I am doing something this weekend. Probably "Blame it on Rio", at Karú Nightclub. You see, turns out one of our regular costumers at Sunny Tan is a DJ. He's from Caracas and he's pretty cool. He said he could 'hook us up' and put us on the VIP list, which means we get in for free.
VIP, however, is not that hard to get into. On Friday when we went to The Cove (and yes, we did have an excellent time, regardless of the awful things people say about it) and, what do you know, we were VIP's :D
But hey, if this kid wants us in, then I guess Andrea and I will do him the favor. Hehe.
Also, we've been SHOWERED with invitations to go in for free at Club Space (another client), we've gotten numbers for mad good hairdressers in Hialeah, met a girl who made it into Making The Band (I forget which season).
Also, we got in a Spray Tanning machine. It's insane- it looks like a time machine. Haha.
The not-so-funny bit is that I was forced to try it. Either that or face getting fired ("How do you expect the client to buy something if you've never tried it yourself!?". Whatevs).
So, now I look like some crazy Charlize Theron who has tannorexia.
Ok, maybe not so extreme, but I defenitely don't like this "subtle bronze" I sport. I feel like a big orange monster. Gah. Can't wait till it goes away. I guess I'll be exfoliating every night now.

But...yes. That's that's been happening lately.
I hope everyone's doing well!

So, I'm here at work...working.
Yay.
The past couple of shifts have been pretty rough. I've been so scatterbrained. I used to pride myself on being on top of things and having a great memory, but lately, my caring level has plummetted and my work performance has suffered.
It hit a climax on Friday when I messed up so bad I had to cover my mistake with $30 from my own account. It did hurt a bit, but I was more concerned with not getting fired.

At least Spain is 1 month and a day away. Phew. I gots something to look forward to.
The workout sessions have been pretty good, too! I went to the gym on thursday, on a 2-hour break between classes (and then hauled from Andrea's house to my biology class, and to my horror, the teacher was TAKING attendance...good thing he was on G). Anyways, that class was HORRIBLE that day. The guy started doing some questions on the board and we were held back five minutes. Since there was no sign of stopping, people just started walking out. I was the third, at 1:52 (class ended at 1:45) and he has the nerve to tell me that I'm "responsible for the questions". I had another thing in mind, to do with his stupid questions.
Oh, I dunno...maybe I have a class at Weston campus at 2?

But whatevs. Aside from that, everything's good :)

Yes, Swedish rappers are so OG.
Anyways, this new semester is off to a rather good start, despite a bumpy takeoff, but it was something that was inevitable, and lucky for me, I am to live with it as 'it was the best that could have happened'. I hope you're having fun cos imma have you on overtime in Spring Break.

Why? Because I am afraid I will run the same fate as Greg. I don't want to be a victim of a bassoon curse shit.
Which brings me to my next point:
I am going to Madrid for spring break. Hells yeah. My two friends Vanessa and Estefania are coming with me (though they are staying somewhere else). It's going to be kick-ass :D

Also, my Ethics class is SO much fun. Professor Hodge is...a preacher. He wears those crazy church suits/shoes as well. I think I love him. Ha ha.
Today he was talking about the difference between men and women, and why the latter seem to be always called the 'weaker sex' because of their feelings.
So, suddenly:
Prof. Hodge: So, if a husband asks his wife for a manage á trois....everyone here knows what it is right? I don't gotta draw it or anything?
Class: Yeah.
Prof. Hodge: Ok..so...
Random kid *cutting in*: Can you make a drawing?
Prof. Hodge: NO!

The man is sidesplitting.
There is something I dread about New Year's.
I hate the whole thought of starting over, from scratch. Even though people see it as only symbolical, I feel it is more than that.

I'm not fond of starting over, especially when I had such a good year. I cannot lie, I can't remember many bad things happening to me in 2007- only good ones. They range from very subtle things that put a smile on my face, to massive, national events that made me dizzy with excitement.
To start off, the Super Bowl. I had SUCH fun. Some idiots at BCC made fun of me, saying that it was 'gay' and that they had been there. Yeah, you may have been there, but you didn't get those soggy roast beef sandwiches, or saw Prince busting his lip with the microphone on the way off the stage during rehearsals. Heh. Plus we got free t-shirts, and I was on ESPN. So, suck on that :D
In 2007 I traveled to two cities people only dream of going: Chicago and New York City. I was in awe of both places, and I finally began to understand the culture that I am supposed to be living under, but feels like a figment of something found in movies. Simple things like walking down random streets in NYC opened my eyes up. I didn't have to go to Europe to feel extreme culture shock.
Milwaukee and Chicago proved to me that not everything is like South Florida. Lake Michigan proved me, yet again, my small size in our world. I mean, on a map, I can cover it with my thumb, but seeing it from the car, and dipping my toes in that vast ocean-like mass was, for a lack of a better word, "woah".
My resolution for 2007 was to try something new everytime I got the chance, and it'll be it again for 2008. It was pretty interesting, to put aside my misconception about things. I shut up, did it, and most of the time, liked some new things. Like Sushi.
In 2007 I learned to value seemingly small things like having a job, being able to have several meals a day, be able to shop, to drive, to go out whenever, to have friends. To have FAMILY.
The love life went as usual. But that's because nothing ever changes. I hold no hope for 2008. Whatever happens, well...happens.

So, tonight, when that clock strikes 12, I will be very sad indeed that 2007- the year of my high school graduation, the year of my first time in college, of my first real paycheck, of change and growth- is over. But if things go as they did this year, or better yet, if there is a glimmer of better things to come, then I will laugh a little louder, eat a little more, dance with more enjoyment, and stop holding back.

Happy 2008 for those of you who made 2007 a most excellent year. May it be full of health and joy and moments that make you realize life is totally worthwhile :)
